Ryan is 2 months!

Ryan turned 2 months old on Saturday! He celebrated his big day at dinner with GiGi, Grandma Belle, Uncle Scott, Miss Sarah, and Mommy and Daddy. He had a great day after a long week. Ryan started "school" last Tuesday and he just loves his teachers, Miss Rosario, Miss V., and Miss Meredith. Mommy was sad to go back to work but Ryan likes his new friends.

Ryan also met his Aunt Lisa a few weeks ago. She came to visit for a whole week! He really had fun visiting with her and perfecting his latest trick, smiling.

Because Ryan turned 2 months, he had to get his first big round of immunizations today. He had 5 shots and 1 oral immunization. Ryan took it like a man and immediately screamed at the sight of the needle! :) Hahahhaha... Actually, it wasn't too bad. He cried at first but didn't take too long to calm back down and despite a little fussiness he seems to be doing okay. Much better than Mommy. :)
His checkup at the doctor went great. He is now 22.25 inches long and he weighs 10 lbs 10 oz. He is in the 50th percentile for weight but is under 50% for length (Daddy's genes!). Other than that, he is doing great and we won't go back to the doctor for 2 more months.

Until next time... much love.

Ryan's Baptism

Father's Day was such a special occasion for us this year. Not only was it Daddy's First Father's Day but we were able to spend the day with both Grandfather, Sir and Grandpa John. We enjoyed a great brunch at a fancy restaurant with the Grandparents, Uncle (and Godfather) Scott and Miss Sarah, and Grandma Ruth.

Later, Ryan was baptized and brought into the Catholic Church surrounded by so many friends and family. What a special evening! Fr. (Uncle) Maurice performed the baptism and Grandma Eunice played the processional hymn "Baptized by Water" while everyone sang along. There were so many people! Ryan was completely dunked into the baptismal font and he didn't even cry (much to everyone's surprise)! Grandma Belle read a special prayer, as did Godmother Frances and Godfather Scott. It was so neat for Ryan to be surrounded by so many of his loved ones, including his cousins Max, Juliette, Alexis, and Lilliana, his 3 Great Grandmothers, his Great-Great Aunt Marianne, his Great Aunts and Great Uncles, and everyone else that was there! What a day!

The evening was concluded by a reception at Ryan's house - we enjoyed such yummy food from Ryan's Great Aunt Karen, the caterer. It was such a special occasion - thanks to everyone that was there and those that sent your thoughts and prayers.

Ryan meets Grandma Belle and Grandpa John

This week has been a busy one! Ryan finally met his Grandma Belle and Grandpa John from Georgia! He has had such a fun time with them going shopping, playing, taking pictures, and of course eating as much mexican food as possible! Ryan loves playing with his Grandpa John. Grandpa John tries to keep Ryan as active as possible - standing on his tip-toes, playing with his toys, or trying his newest trick - flipping from his belly onto his back! What fun!

Ryan also got a new car this week! He loves is new Hyundai Santa Fe that Daddy and Grandpa picked out for him. He will definitely enjoy the tinted windows in this blistering Texas heat!

Ryan's Week 5!

Quote of the week from a stranger: "Welcome to the world, little guy!"

Ryan had a checkup with his fabulous pediatrician, Dr. Tina Boylston, this week and everything looks great! He is a whopping 9 pounds! Mommy and Daddy are so happy! He is 21 inches long - such a difference from the 6 pounds, 13 ounces and 19 and a half inches at birth!

In addition to that, Ryan made his first friend this week. He loves admiring his friend, the octopus, that hangs from his activity gym! He even likes to punch the rattle that is attached to one of the octopus' tentacles. He's getting good at his punches - he punched Daddy in the chin this week! Ryan is starting to stare at lights and movement more and more every day and really likes to look at faces, if even for just a few minutes.

Ryan had his first official babysitter this week (besides Grandma Margaret and Grandfather Sir). Miss Sarah came over and watched Ryan for a few hours while Mommy and Daddy went car shopping. Ryan loves Miss Sarah - they read and sang songs and did a little homework to boot!

Ryan also went to Southwest Research Institute this week (what a busy week!) to meet Daddy for lunch. He had Rudy's BBQ with "the guys" - well, the guys had BBQ, Ryan pretty much just slept. He met Miss Teresa, Miss Mary, Miss Kathy, Daddy Burkey, a bunch of Daddy's other co-workers, and saw his Great Uncle Danny too.

That's it for now. Stay tuned - soon Ryan will be meeting his Ma Belle and Papa John and I'm sure he'll have many more adventures! Until next time!
